It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day

Posted in Mini News Update at 12:46 pm by brushmistress

Hi all! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here, a whole year in fact. I’ve been busy with the ups and downs of life, but things are shaking out nicely, and I hope to be more active in my blogging.

The biggest bit of news to share is that after a 3 year collaboration, I have stepped away from Wyrd Miniatures. I will of course leave the pics up on my site of the studio work I completed for them, and have a few dozen miniatures to add to the Wyrd gallery as well. All is not lost though. I’m thrilled to announce that I am now collaborating with Dark Sword miniatures and I have a few pictures to share in the near future of the minis I’ve painted for Jim Ludwig.

In other news, remember that John King Pirate Lad miniature I painted a while back? He took second place this year at GenCon in the large model category! I also took 3rd in the Dark Sword George R.R. Martin category with a take on Sansa Stark. Sansa was painted mostly in my hotel room and in the convention center. Those of you that know me shouldn’t be surprised by that – if I’m not under pressure, I’m not having fun! Photos of her will come soon, as well as a pic of the 1st place WAMP Dark Sword Miniatures contest entry I completed just prior to GenCon.

If I don’t post anything more before the new year, I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday season!

Edit: Here’s pics of Sansa and the Lannister Lady in Waiting that won 1st place over at WAMP’s Dark Sword contest!

Super Dungeon Explore – A Christmas Version

Posted in Mini News Update at 7:58 pm by brushmistress

Sorry that posts have been scarce lately – I’ve been super busy, I promise. :) Most of what I’m painting these days are studio miniatures, and since they aren’t released yet, I can’t put the photos up. :( Now – on to the good stuff- a new model!

I picked up this lovely model at GenCon this past summer (from Soda Pop’s upcoming game Super Dungeon Explore), and have just now gotten around to painting her. She is the first model I’ve painted since John King that wasn’t a commission. I wanted to do a Christmas themed miniature, so I filed off the majority of the runes that were on this model (her headband and most of her dress with the exception of the back center panel). All holly, swirly bits and trim on the dress are freehand. She was an absolute joy to paint, which leaves me very sad that I didn’t pick up more at GenCon – guess I’ll have to wait for the regular release of her (which will be 20% smaller as I understand it). Click on the pic for multiple views.

If you’re interested in purchasing this model, she is now up on eBay! Here’s the link.

John King, Pirate Lad & Hooded Rider

Posted in Mini News Update at 5:10 pm by brushmistress

Two of my latest. The first is John King, Pirate Lad. He’s a 54mm historical resin figure from Artefactory.

The second is the “Hooded Rider”. He’s one of Wyrd Miniatures latest releases from Malifaux. Lots of fun musculature to paint on this one!

Where’s the new stuff?

Posted in Mini News Update at 11:22 am by brushmistress

First off – new look! Just time for a change in scenery is all.

Time continues to fly by quicker than I’d like. :( I have been busy at work on a commission, Malifaux studio pieces & some goodies picked up from GenCon. There won’t be any updated photos for at least a week as I continue to play catch up with my non-painting related work, but rest assured, I haven’t given up the brush. Thank you all for your patience – there will be eye candy a’comin!

Hi all! I’m back from a busy but great GenCon (my very first!). Thank you to everyone who helped make it an unforgettable experience.

Please be sure to drop back by in the next couple of weeks as I begin to paint up some of the goodies picked up at GenCon, as well as some studio pieces that were done for Malifaux prior to the convention.

Bathalian Madness

Posted in Mini News Update at 11:11 pm by brushmistress

Ok, so maybe not it’s not madness, but it’s a Bathalian just the same. :) This piece was started a few years ago – I put him aside because all of the wonderful detail sculpted onto his cloak was driving me crazy. I finally finished him up a couple of weeks ago – Mr. Squid Head now resides with a private collector.

“Isabeau the Secret” Cadwallon Miniature

Posted in Mini News Update at 6:28 pm by brushmistress

I’ve been on a tiny bit of a Rackham kick – I had given up for a while painting these skinny little ladies, but I really loved the sculpted armor on this one and wanted to give her a go. Enjoy! You can find Isabeau for sale here on Ebay.

Major Photo Updates

Posted in Mini News Update at 6:28 pm by brushmistress

Finally, as promised, a ton of photos that I’ve worked on over the past few months. I can’t show you everything I’ve done since some of them are new releases for Wyrd that haven’t hit stores yet, but there’s still plenty of goodies to share. I’ve placed the images in their appropriate sections in the gallery page, but have also included them all below since it’s quite a few models. Enjoy!
